Retail sales down more than 14%

The volume of retail sales fell by over 14% in 2009 compared to the previous year, according to official figures released today.

The Central Statistics Office also said that the value of sales last year dropped by 18%.

However there was a slight increase in the volume of sales between November and December - but sales in December were still down by 7.5% on the same time in 2008.
