Kenny aims to bounce back from Lee criticisms
09/02/2010 - 14:01:35

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny today hit back at the criticisms levelled at him and his party by George Lee.

The former economics correspondent quit Fine Gael and his Dáil seat yesterday, saying that he had no influence or input into policy. Lee also intoned he was effectively cold-shouldered by party colleagues.

Kenny has revealed that the front-bench position he offered George Lee last week was a new portfolio dealing with the co-ordination of economic policy, but he says the representative told him he was "drained".

The Fine Gael leader today received an endorsement of his leadership by the party's front bench, despite "mutterings" about his suitability.
