Abuse survivors meet bishops
08/02/2010 - 13:50:02

A meeting between Catholic bishops and survivors of abuse in religious run residential institutions has taken place in Co Kildare.

Senior church figures are travelling to Rome this weekend to discuss the fallout from the Ryan report into abuse at religious run institutions.

The bishops have given an undertaking to convey to Pope Benedict XVI the views of the groups representing survivors and to present him with a letter on their behalf.

Today's meeting is part of an ongoing engagement established following the Ryan report.
