€42m of drugs seized this year

Gardaí seized more than €42m worth of illegal drugs in major seizures this year.
The figure compares with more than €559m in 2008, but €500m of that was captured in a record haul at Castletownbere in West Cork.
The majority of major seizures this year were along the east coast, in counties Dublin, Meath and Kildare.
The drugs seized included cannabis, cocaine and heroin.
The biggest drug seizure was in Sutton in Dublin in March when gardaí seized 10 kilograms of heroin, with has estimated street value of €8m.
