Newbury have made an early move in an attempt to beat the frost ahead of Saturday's big meeting.
Paul Nicholls' superstars Denman and Master Minded are due to appear in the Aon Chase and Game Spirit respectively but the weather forecast suggests another cold spell is on the way.
Clerk of the course Richard Osgood said: "We've covered the whole of the course today.
"We had no frost last night so the temperature under the covers is not too cold.
"The ground is good to soft, soft in places at present.
"According to the forecasts Thursday is due to be the coldest night, down to about -2C or -3C but it is due to warm up a bit on Friday."
