Militants attack Pakistan mayor
15/11/2009 - 14:26:43

More than a dozen militants, some disguised in burqas, opened fire on the house of an anti-Taliban mayor in north-western Pakistan.

Security guards repelled the attack on the home of Mohammad Fahim Khan, killing three assailants. The others managed to escape.

Mr Khan has organised a militia to fight the Taliban in his town of Bazid Khel, 10 miles south of the city of Peshawar.
